Former Valencia CF defender Miguel Brito coincided with VCF Media and the squad on a recent away trip, as part of his new role as an advisor to young footballing talents.
As one of the Portuguese players with the most appearances for the club, Miguel talked about his time at Valencia CF, and the current representation from his countrymen Thierry Correia and Gonçalo Guedes at Mestalla.
"I had told my friends that we were going to leave the hotel at 12pm, but in the end we stayed a little longer so that I could talk to people whom I hadn't seen in a long time. There were people who were there during my time at Valencia CF, and it's always nice to see them," said the former right back, who played for the club from 2005 to 2012.
"When I first came here, I learned to love Valencia CF. Nowadays they are my team in Spain. Due to the pandemic, I haven't been to Valencia in two years. I think that I'll go back there soon," he promised.
Miguel talked about a player who is a successor of sorts to him: Thierry Correia, part of the next generation of Portuguese fullbacks.
"In the games that I've watched, I've seen that there has been a very good progression from Thierry Correia. Many aspects of his game have improved. This has a lot to do with the hard work that he has done. He came here from a league that isn't as strong as the Spanish league, so I think that he found it hard to begin with. Now he's in good form, and I think that he is a player who could go even further."
As for Gonçalo Guedes, he commented that:
"Guedes has responded very well. He has had the bad luck of suffering injuries, which haven't helped him. He's a player who can make a difference. He's young and he can contribute a lot. I think that Valencia CF have felt his absence at times this season."
